New Installation

The garage door is one home feature many put at the bottom of the list, but have you stopped to think about how much of the front of your home is a garage door?

Even the slightest stylistic upgrades to your door, from beautifully realistic wood grains to elegant tinted glass windows, can make a world of difference and set your home apart from the rest.

At Genuine Garage Doors, we’re committed to finding the door you want, not the one we want to sell.

Besides the type of door,  there are some other Garage Door options available.

Insulated Doors

Depending on what you elect to do with your garage door space, proper insulation can transform your garage into a much more pleasant space. Is your garage simply a storage space for old tools and unwanted Christmas presents from the in-laws, or is it a workshop or studio that is often used?

Besides moderating the temperature in the garage, an insulated garage door usually improves the structural integrity of the door. Additionally, the “R-value” of your door is a measurement for how well insulated it is; the higher the R-value, the more your door acts as a barrier to the outside, keeping the heat or (occasionally) the cold out.

For many of our customers, this is very important, so insulation options are always available. Most of our manufacturers offer doors with varying degrees of insulation which is typically in two different forms listed below.

Vinyl

Vinyl back insulated doors are often       comprised of polystyrene foam that are similar to a Styrofoam.

Instead of the bare steel that is also

the façade of your door, vinyl backed doors will have panels of this foam that add an

extra layer of protection.

Steel Doors

Steel back insulated doors are often triple layered comprised of the outer steel that you can see from the street, polystyrene or polyurethane center, with an additional steel backing.

These doors are usually the best insulated options out there and look beautiful on the inside as well as the out. Not only are these doors some of the best for keeping your garage temperate, they also add to the structural integrity of the entire door, making it less likely to be severely damaged.

Urethane

Urethane or injected doors are often comprised of polystyrene or Urethane foams. The Urethane is injected into the frame and is more dense allowing a greater R value.

Instead of the bare steel that is also the façade of your door, vinyl backed doors will have panels of this foam that add an extra layer of protection.

Windows

Windows on a door can make a very large difference in the look of the door. If the correct windows for the door are selected, they can really enhance the look of a home. They can be used to accentuate the structure’s features such as arches, mullions and other architectural aspects. They also add natural light into the garage. Typically the windows do not have to be insulated but if the interior of the gare is to be used as a work or living space it is recommended. Tinting, inserts, and different glass options including frosting, Low E, and textual makeup are possible.

All of our manufacturers offer doors with different options for windows. Ask your sales representative if you think windows would make your door look like it belongs on your home.

Overhead Doors can also be modified to allow them to work in places where the ceilings are low than normal or in places where they are higher than normal.

A Low headroom track configuration can be used it there is less then 12 inches above the top of the opening.

On the other hand, High Lifted or Vertical track can be used to have the door go higher up before it goes horizontal.

This can be an advantage if the space inside the garage is needed like it might be if a Car lift was to be placed in the garage.
